Barn Door Chic

Having hung out in a few Texas barns when I was young I remember lots of things about them....the warm fuzzy smell of hay and fur, the sound of rain on the tin roof, the soaring ceilings that kept the heat up high, the  exposed wood on the inside, and lots of sliding barn doors.

I've always wondered if there is a reason most barns are red....
Does anyone know why??

Here is a cute barn that isn't painted yet....

So lately I've noticed lots and lots of barn doors making it into interiors....a great idea I think as long as your not worried about sealing noise in or out.

Here are a few ideas for bringing barn doors into the house:
These first three are my favorites!

Barn Door BBQ

This door hides a kitchen pantry....

Here are barn doors used for home offices.....

These doors do double duty...

Love the use of blue painted doors mixed with the rustic wood and white floor!

Barn doors make great-room spaces cozy...

Most famous barn doors by Martyn Lawrence Bullard for Ozzy Osborne and family...

Black doors look basic but charming...

Shabby chic barn doors...

Barn doors are super versatile and a clever way to keep annoying door swings a non-issue in small or tight spaces.  They easily add character and color to a space and are also a great way to assure handicap access if need be.

So if you are looking for fresh door ideas,
look no further than the barn door and dress it up or down to suit your personal style.
